Mason Mount warns Chelsea teammates over ‘tough’ Manchester United clash

Mason Mount has warned his Chelsea teammates to be ready for a tough Premier League game against managerless Manchester United on Sunday afternoon.

Chelsea go into the game at Stamford Bridge at the top of the Premier League table after picking up 29 points from their opening 12 games, while only conceding a league-low of four goals during that time.

United on the other hand, have only won one of their last seven top flight matches, a run which has left them ninth in the league table and already 12 points behind the Blues.

The game will be caretaker manager Michael Carrick’s first Premier League match in charge of the Red Devils, with United’s hierarchy still awaiting clearance on a deal to appoint Ralf Rangnick as the interim boss until the end of the season, when a full time successor to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will then take over.

But despite the differences in form and stability between the new clubs, Chelsea midfielder Mount believes that he and his teammates will have to be at their best to get a result against the Red Devils.

‘We have recently gone through that period where we have changed managers and it can go one way where players improve as they want to impress the new manager,’ Mount told Sky Sports.

‘And if that happens we have to be ready for that, and we will be but I think it’s a tough one to read and go into, you see the [2-0] win over Villarreal [on Tuesday], they played very well.

‘We have to ready for everything and be prepared for a very tough game, it’s Manchester United, the players they’ve got, individually they can produce on the day.’

Meanwhile, Mount, who has scored three goals in nine Premier League appearances so far this term, has hailed the club’s head coach Thomas Tuchel and believes his temperament is helping to bring the best out of his players.

‘He’s brilliant to work under, he’s someone that is very intense when the game comes around and in training but off the pitch and around the building he’s someone that is very relaxed and he’s someone who you can talk to, he puts his arm around you,’ he added.

‘So I think he’s the best of both, if you don’t play well in a half, at half-time he’s coming in and he’s telling you and that’s something that keeps us on our toes and keeps us going.’
