Mason Greenwood says it is like Bruno Fernandes has been at Manchester United for years after he scored his first goal for the club in a 3-0 win over Watford on Sunday.

Fernandes opened his United account from the penalty spot at Old Trafford, after winning the spot-kick himself shortly before half-time.

Anthony Martial doubled the lead just before the hour-mark before Fernandes provided the assist for Greenwood to power home a third.

The teenage striker has been thoroughly impressed with the Portuguese midfielder since his arrival and feels both his personality and his talent have made the transition incredibly easy.

‘It was important to go in at half time ahead because it was an end to end game,’ Greenwood told MUTV. ‘So when Bruno went through and got the penalty, and then getting the goal it was a feeling of relief. It gave us a boost for the second half.

‘Bruno’s a top person. He helps the team in every way possible both attacking and defending. It is great to have him at the club.

‘It is great to see him playing at Old Trafford and score his first goal. I am sure there is going to be more of that.

‘It looks like he has been here for years and he’s settled in nice and sweet. He is part of the group now and part of the team.’

United remain unbeaten since the arrival of Fernandes in January, with two wins and two draws, as the victory over Watford sees them climb to fifth in the Premier League.

Greenwood’s strike against the Hornets was his fifth in the league and 11th in all competitions this season as he continues to make an impressive impact at just 18-years-old.

‘It was an amazing feeling scoring,’ said the young forward. ‘I am just working hard for the team and I’m happy with my goals and I will carry on working hard to get more goals.

‘To have 11 goals is amazing and I want more and more. I will just carry on working hard.’

United host Club Brugge on Thursday night in the second leg of their Europa League last 32 tie after drawing 1-1 in Belgium last week.

Greenwood, who has four goals in the competition, will be hoping for another starting berth as he remains in the race to be top scorer in the tournament.

Four players currently lead the way with six goals, including Wolves’ Diogo Jota and Rangers’ Alfredo Morelos.
