Christmas is truly the best time to troll your family members.

And the queen of the trolls this year is Francesca Scorsese, who has delivered a delicious burn to her director father, Martin.

The 20-year-old decided to mark her dad’s 2019 war with Marvel by wrapping all of his presents in Marvel wrapping paper, and we bow down.

The actress and filmmaker shared a picture of her pre-Christmas preparations to her Instagram story, and revealed that Martin’s present was wrapped in paper bearing The Hulk, Iron Man and Captain America.

Francesca wrote: ‘Look what I’m wrapping my dad’s Xmas gifts in’, followed by a crying laughing emoji.

She had even bought another two rolls, bearing just Cap and Iron Man, in case she ran out.

That’s dedication to the lols.

We’re sure that Martin, 77, will see the funny side.

The Irishman director has found himself public enemy number one of MCU fans, after he claimed the blockbusters are ‘not cinema’.

Back in October, he told Empire magazine that he doesn’t go to see Marvel films.

The Oscar winner said: ‘I tried, you know? But that’s not cinema.

‘Honestly, the closest I can think of them, as well made as they are, with actors doing the best they can under the circumstances, is theme parks. It isn’t the cinema of human beings trying to convey emotional, psychological experiences to another human being.’

The comments caused major drama, with pretty much everyone in filmmaking giving their two cents.

Marvel boss Kevin Feige responded, telling The Hollywood Reporter’s Awards Chatter podcast: ‘I think that’s not true. I think it’s unfortunate.

‘I think myself and everyone who works on these movies loves cinema, loves movies, loves going to the movies, loves to watch a communal experience in a movie theater full of people.’

However, Scorsese defended his comments in an essay for the New York Times, writing: ‘Many franchise films are made by people of considerable talent and artistry. You can see it on the screen.

‘The fact that the films themselves don’t interest me is a matter of personal taste and temperament. I know that if I were younger, if I’d come of age at a later time, I might have been excited by these pictures and maybe even wanted to make one myself.’

Later in the piece, the star went onto compare Marvel films to those projects crafted by the likes of Alfred Hitchcock – which he called an ‘extraordinary experience’.

But while he said they deliver shock and thrill, it seems the director believes the comic book craze is lacking in certain elements.

‘Many of the elements that define cinema as I know it are there in Marvel pictures,’ he explained. ‘What’s not there is revelation, mystery or genuine emotional danger. Nothing is at risk.’
