Martin Lewis shares tips on how to book seriously cheap getaways for summer

Brits who are looking for cheap last minute holidays should book now, according to Money Saving Expert founder Martin Lewis.

The 47-year-old claimed on his website that prices have dipped even for trips during the peak summer holiday.

He explained how it is currently the “lates” booking period of the summer holidays, which is six to eight weeks before travelling.

Which means families who are hoping to take their children abroad can still book cheap late deals, even though it’s the peak season.

Bargain hunters should try comparison websites, such as Holiday Hypermarket for some deals when travelling in August.

Martin also revealed other handy ways to get a cheap holiday during the summer holidays.

The money saving guru explained that flexibility could save families a fortune.

Here are his tips from his website MoneySavingExpert:

1. Book very late

If you book a day or two before flying, this can be super cheap although it limits your choices too.

2. Travel later in summer

Generally within the summer holidays, the last weeks of August are cheaper than earlier.

However, you’re likely to have much less choice, so if you’re set on a particular holiday or destination, then book now.
