Martin Keown names the one player Manchester United need to prioritise replacing

Martin Keown believes Manchester United should prioritise replacing Ashley Young in the upcoming transfer window.

Young has been at the club since 2011 after joining from Aston Villa for a reported fee of between £15-20 million.

He’s made 235 appearances for the Manchester side and has cemented himself as a solid performer over recent seasons down the right flank.

However, given he is now 33 years of age, Keown has urged the Red Devils to sign a new right-back this summer.

‘We know he [Solskjaer] will be given money to spend,’ Keown said on Match of the Day.

‘Central defence is certainly a position, Herrera hasn’t signed his contract in midfield, perhaps a midfielder, and definitely a right-back.

‘Ashley Young is getting on in years so definitely a right-back. They’re not far away.

‘This is a team in the quarter-finals of the Champions League so it’s not wholesale changes but it’s going to be expensive.’

United’s next fixture is against Wolves in the Premier League on April 2.
