Married At First Sight’s Martha Kalifatidis and Michael Brunelli have finally reached breaking point. 

The couple were spotted arguing in public last Tuesday, the day after the MAFS finale aired, at a café in Chatswood, Sydney. 

Martha, 30, burst into tears while resting her head in her hands, as Michael engaged in a tense phone conversation.

Martha looked far less glamorous than usual as she concealed her gaze behind a pair of unfashionable neon sunglasses. 

Meanwhile, Michael appeared to be in a world of his own while talking on the phone.

He wore a serious expression on his face and stared off into the distance as his wife sobbed silently.

‘They were having a really tense conversation and then she just started crying as she was waiting for her food,’ an onlooker told Woman’s Day

‘They both looked really uncomfortable and stressed. The chemistry you see on TV just wasn’t there.’

Another source added: ‘Martha is in a really bad place mentally, and has struggled with all the criticism from her actions on the show.’

At one stage, the Bondi-based makeup artist was seen wiping away tears from beneath her sunglasses. 

She appeared to take several deep breaths in order to calm herself down.

But despite her best efforts, the tears kept streaming down her face as she scrolled through her phone.

The brunette may well have been upset by the public backlash she’s received as a result of her often catty portrayal on Married At First Sight. 

Dressing down for the low-key outing, Martha swathed her curves in an over-sized white T-shirt and cream-coloured pedal pushers. 

The glamorous Instagram model swapped her high heels for a pair of black sports sneakers and accessorised the look with her favourite Fendi baguette bag.

Despite her rumoured relationship woes, Martha also wore her engagement ring for the outing. 

Meanwhile, Michael looked relaxed in a sporty white T-shirt and grey cargo shorts, matched with a pair of black runners and striped socks. 

As the outing progressed the pair’s spirits began to lift, as they were seen hugging and smiling at the table.

Martha’s financial situation has also reportedly put a strain on their romance, after she revealed last week she has been unable to work as a freelance makeup artist due to concerns for her safety. 

The twosome  agreed to stay together during their final vows on MAFS, despite having doubts about getting involved in a long-distance relationship.

Martha is based in Bondi Beach, Sydney while Michael worked as a schoolteacher in Melbourne until recently.
