Married At First Sight star Sean Thomsen reveals he encouraged Poppyto to speak out about Luke

Married At First Sight‘s Poppy Jennings, 38, wrote a scathing Facebook post about her ‘husband’ Luke Eglin, 39, on Tuesday.

And now one of the stars from the 2018 season of the hit reality series has defended her, saying he was the one who encouraged her to speak up in the first place.

Sean Thomsen, 35, revealed to Hit radio hosts Krysti and Bodge on Friday that he told Poppy she’d probably only get ‘one opportunity’ to tell her side of the story, reported Now To Love.

‘I actually saw Poppy on the weekend and I said ”Look you’ve pretty much only got one opportunity to say your piece, you might as well get it out and say what’s on your mind and how it was portrayed.’

He added: ‘Because we’re only seeing a fraction of probably what happened.’

‘There are kind of like three main couple characters in the show so far and everyone else is kind of cannon fire,’ he added.

Sean was appearing on the show to promote his new tell-all memoir, Married Lies, which he’d written about his experience appearing on the Channel 9 show.

Poppy made her fiery post the day after viewers saw her dramatically quit the show.

The mum-of-two hinted there was more to her sensational exit than was shown, and claimed she was ‘going to tell everything’.

She also accused Luke of faking his nice-guy image, claimed the show’s famed relationship experts got it wrong and her scenes were heavily edited.

‘I was there, I was uncomfortable with all the things about this person I was matched with that didn’t add up!’ she continued.

Poppy said she tried to make it work with Luke after being told by Channel Nine producers that the public would ‘f**king hate’ her if she didn’t.

‘I was told, “Poppy on-camera and off-camera don’t exist to the public”. I was so scared, I was saying s**t like, “This could work”, because they told me Australia was going to f**king hate me,’ she explained.

Poppy then claimed the maintenance supervisor’s bosses had spoken to him before his appearance on the show, warning him to be ‘on his best behaviour’.

‘You have seen minutes of footage here and there of a guy on his best behaviour because he was drilled by his bosses beforehand about how he had to behave!!!!’ she continued.

According to the disgruntled reality star, there was more which played out behind the scenes but was deemed ‘too controversial’ to talk about.

‘I couldn’t say what was happening behind the scenes, as it was too controversial, so let’s just play her ugly crying and whinging over her kids,’ she added.

She claims her scenes were edited to make her look like a ‘whinger’.

‘F**k, I’d probably hate me too! From what I heard that’s all they play of me!’ she said.

She also went on to claim Luke wasn’t genuinely upset when she left him, and was more concerned about what she would reveal about him.

‘Why is Luke crying when I left??? What really happened that he was crying over! You don’t know because I wasn’t allowed to say!! It’s too controversial!’ she said.

He’s scared s**tless I will tell the truth. I was afraid to speak up! But f**k this s**t, I’m going to tell everything!!!!

‘It’s not what you see, it’s what you don’t see! Go and ask Luke why I was so uncomfortable?????????? Why the f**k did I really leave??

‘He’s petrified I’m going to talk. He knows he’s f**ked up. Those tears from him are for his reputation and job!!!!’

She concluded her post by saying he needed to be held ‘accountable’.

‘I’m not some whinging little weak person that is going to be silenced. I’m standing up for the f**king truth,’ she finished.

A spokesperson for Nine and Endemol Shine Australia said: ‘We have seen Poppy’s post and note her distress – we have reached out to her to offer support and won’t be making any further public comment, and will focus on doing our best to support both Poppy and Luke.’
