Married At First Sight star Martha Kalifatidis wages war against Jetstar over 'nightmare' flight

Martha Kalifatidis’ Jetstar nightmare: MAFS bride slams the budget airline after being left stranded in Cairns – as she ‘spends FIVE hours waiting by the phone after buying a $400 ticket’

She dreams of travelling the world exclusively on private planes, just like her idol  Kim Kardashian

But, for now at least, Martha Kalifatidis has to settle for budget airlines – just as long as they aren’t Jetstar Airways.

The Married At First Sight bride, 31, declared war on the low-cost company on Tuesday, after she was left ‘stranded’ in Cairns.

‘It has been a nightmare,’ Martha told Daily Mail Australia on Tuesday morning, after her Jetstar flight to Melbourne was cancelled the previous afternoon.

Despite hoping she would be booked onto the next available flight, Martha spent hours sat waiting by her phone and eventually had to spend another night in Cairns.

‘No one [from Jetstar] has called me or returned my emails,’ said Martha, who has since booked flights home through another airline.

Martha was initially reluctant to travel via another airline as she had already spent $400 on her Jetstar ticket and had expected prompt assistance.

The stressful saga has been well documented on Martha’s Instagram Story.

On Monday, she tagged Jetstar in a post to her 280,000 followers, which read: ‘It would be nice to hear back from someone at Jetstar, I’ve only been waiting 5+ hours.

‘For the stunning price of $400 one way to Melbourne you’d think they could hire enough staff to return a call.’

Martha’s determination to make it back to Melbourne by Tuesday night stems from the fact her friend Gabrielle Roccuzzo is hosting a launch party for her hair salon.

Gabrielle is the woman behind Martha’s show-stopping Logie Awards look, which consisted of crimped extensions that flowed down to her thighs.

Speaking to Daily Mail Australia on Tuesday, a spokesperson for Jetstar said that Martha’s flight was cancelled due to ‘operational issues’.

‘We appreciate cancellations are frustrating but safety is our number one priority and we apologise to customers for the disruption to their travel plans,’ they said.

‘Customers were offered the next available flight, along with accommodation and meals if needed. Also, a full refund for customers who no longer wished to travel.’
