Married At First Sight couple's shock split

Married At First Sight New Zealand‘s Jordan Dare and Anna Saxton have called time on their romance, four days after the finale episode aired.

The couple took to their respective Instagram accounts on Friday to announce the shock news, with the groom admitting to falling out of love with Anna once the show ended.

Anna, 25, previously confessed to having made a sex tape with a former boyfriend that was shared with his friends, without her consent.

In a lengthy Instagram post, Jordan, 26, spoke about falling out of love with Anna in the space of just a few weeks.

‘Since the show finished filming, myself and Anna spent as much time together as possible, giving our long-distance relationship its best chance and we were in contact every day,’ he wrote.

‘Nothing happened or dramatically changed in our relationship, but the only downside to spending 24/7 with someone from the first meeting, trying to make a relationship work is when you have to spend time apart.’

Jordan explained that in time, he realised that his feelings for Anna were platonic.

‘I truly will have a friend for life in Anna, but if you realise you are not in love with someone, it is not a feeling you can hide,’ he wrote.

Jordan went on to describe the social experiment as an ‘amazing experience’ and ‘couldn’t have dreamed of being matched with a better partner’.

In Anna’s break-up post, she also revealed her struggles with anxiety, depression and suicidal thoughts.

‘Post show, I have been diagnosed with anxiety, depression and have had suicidal thoughts,’ she wrote. ‘I have been working through it with the support of close friends and family, Warner Bros, counselors and my doctor.’

Referring to their split, the singer-songwriter said: ‘He (Jordan) had to do what was best for him.

‘I think when you give your heart away, you never really get it all back, so I still and always will have a lot of love, respect and support for Jordan in everything he does and I only wish him happiness for his future.’

Just last week, the former couple told Now To Love New Zealand that they were planning on moving in together, and even spoke about starting a family.

‘We’ve had that chat, I ideally want to have kids by 30 so we’ve got a couple of years to practice,’ Jordan said.

‘We’re both completely on the same page about that,’ Anna added.

Prior to starring on the show, Anna confessed to Jordan and their families that she was dating a man who she filmed a sex tape with. He later shared the tape with his friends.

‘I don’t regret [making a sex tape], but I do regret putting my trust in the wrong person,’ she told Stuff in August.

Anna is unaware who has seen the footage or where it might end up, so she decided to preemptively warn her family about the tape’s existence.
