Marks and Spencer launch school uniform early bird discount deal

With around a month to go until kids across the UK break up for the long six weeks summer holidays, Marks and Spencer are offering shoppers 20% off school uniform.

Parents who desperately want to get the dreaded school uniform shop out the way, can pick up a range of back to school essentials for next year now at a discounted price until 2 July 2019 on marksandspencer.com or by popping to their local store.

The retailer is slashing the price on everything from shirts, trousers and skirts to general sportswear and P.E kit items, and it includes all sizes up to age 15 to 16 years-old.

Prices for three-pack shirts costs from £7.20 in the deal, while two-packs of boys’ trousers cost £8.80 and packs of girls’ skirts cost £8.

Unfortunately the savings don’t include any footwear, coats or accessories, but it is still a great opportunity for families to get the bulk of the school shop out of the way and claw back some cash.

20% discount on uniform is available in stores and online

Regular M&S shoppers can maximise their savings by also using an M&S Sparks reward card to earn points too. The points card gives customers ten “sparks” for every £1 spent in store or online and the more points you spend the bigger the perks.

But the popular chain isn’t the only retailer already launching school uniform deals. Earlier this week budget supermarket chain Aldi announced it will stock an entire school uniform bundle for £5 in stores and online from 11 July as part of its regular Specialbuys promotion.

Last year Mirror.co.uk reported that spiralling back to school costs were leaving many parents worried about how they will foot the bill, with many parents expecting to fork out an average of £189.29 per child, factoring clothing, books and school bags and sports equipment.

While specific shops recommended by schools remain the most popular retail destination for most parents, a number of families are choosing to buy staple items from high street giants like M&S and major supermarket chains to keep costs low.
