Marko Arnautovic lost his temper with West Ham supporters after he was booed off the pitch in the side’s lacklustre 2-0 defeat at home to Everton.

First-half goals from Kurt Zouma and Bernard sealed a comfortable victory for the visitors and Arnautovic cut a frustrated figure up front for much of the match at London Stadium

The 29-year-old striker had his head turned by the idea of a big-money move to China in January which did not go down well with Hammers fans despite him eventually deciding to remain in the capital.

While Arnautovic scored twice for Austria during the international break, he still hasn’t managed to find the net for his club after considering a switch to the Chinese Super League.

So when Grady Diangana replaced Arnautovic in the 67th minute on Saturday, it’s hardly surprising West Ham’s home support gave the forward a hard time as he left the field.

This was his reaction to the boos…

West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini believed Arnautovic may have been struggling with a knee injury at London Stadium.

Asked about the substitution, Pellegrini replied: ‘Marko is playing a lot of games with some pain in his knee.

‘He receive also in the international game that he played for Austria, he receive again in the same knee, so maybe he was not 100 per cent.’

The result meant Everton leapfrogged West Ham in the race for seventh spot in the Premier League.
