Mark Lawrenson has confessed he’s ‘worried’ about Adrian after a shaky start to the goalkeeper’s Liverpool career.

While Adrian was Liverpool’s hero in the Super Cup after stepping in for the injured Alisson, he has struggled since, with the Reds yet to keep a clean sheet in the Premier League.

After he was at fault for Danny Ings’ strike away at Southampton last weekend, the 32-year-old almost gifted Arsenal an opener on Saturday after rushing off his line and clearing poorly.

Liverpool went on to beat Arsenal 3-1, with Joel Matip and Mohamed Salah (2) getting on the scoresheet at Anfield.

Lawrenson has questioned Liverpool’s move for Adrian and raised his concerns about the Spaniard’s decision making.

‘The goalkeeper worries me,’ he said on LFC TV.

‘I just think he’s sort of, last two games, made the mistake at Southampton when he shouldn’t have been under any pressure and he got away with a big one today.

‘He should have let [Virgil] van Dijk just sort that situation out and he came running off his line.

‘He just worries me a bit and I know he’s experienced and everything but there’s a reason why nobody else was taking him.

‘I get that [that Adrian hasn’t been Liverpool for long] but do you know something, that decision he made today doesn’t matter whether you’ve been there a minute or a thousand minutes with somebody, it’s his decision making.

‘Obviously the one at Southampton as well and I think the manager will obviously always, always back him because Alisson’s probably not fit until after the international break.

‘But he just worries me a little bit.’

Before Liverpool’s victory over Arsenal, Jurgen Klopp refused to put a date on Alisson’s potential return.

‘He looks good, he’s in good shape, good mood, but it will take time. I don’t know exactly,’ the Liverpool manager said.

‘No date really in my mind, or nobody told me a date, I didn’t ask. We want to give him the time he needs.

‘In the beginning he was on crutches, which was normal with the injury he had, they are not there now. He walks normal, he can really train now completely different to a week ago. I think from now on it will go quick but how quick I don’t go.’
