Mark Labbett: ‘Utterly exhausted’ The Chase star speaks out in surprising family admission

Mark Labbett, 54, returned to The Chase with a celebrity special as host Bradley Walsh, 59, was joined by comedian Russell Kane, 43, actress Leonie Eliot, 31, Strictly Come Dancing professional Kevin Clifton, 36, and actress Bonnie Langford, 55, in the studio. The quizmaster took to the micro-blogging site and revealed that he was “utterly exhausted” while he filmed the episode in the midst of a surprising admission. The Chaser who shares a young son with his wife Katie Labbett, 26, admitted his parental duties left him exhausted ahead of filming for the ITV show. In view of his 114,000 followers, Mark wrote: “I was utterly exhausted filming this episode, miracle my eyes were open. The joys of fatherhood #thechase.”

Fans flocked to comment on the post, as one person said: “Fatherhood suits you.”

Another person quipped: “Is this justification for when you lose Mark?”

While a third person added: “It’s worth it.”

Mark later responded to a social media user who remarked he never let contestants win on The Chase unlike his co-star Shaun Wallace.

The person in question wrote: “Aww you never let them win like Sean does.”

The ITV favourite replied: “I told you I was tired #goldendoodle #thechase,” before he added: “[Shaun] never lets them win”.

The Twitter user said: “I know I’m kidding you’re all fab.”(sic)

During the final round of The Celebrity Chase over the weekend, Russell and Leonie managed to get 16 steps ahead of The Chaser but after a couple of push-backs they failed to outsmart the Chaser.

Elsewhere, the quizmaster spoke candidly about his marriage in a rare admission in an appearance on Loose Women, where he revealed the couple are still working on things together.

Loose Women host Christine Lampard asked on the show: “Where are you Mark right now? How do you feel about everything and how is home life?”

Mark replied: “Well, like a lot of relationships, you go through a rough patch. Our absolute priority is our son.

“We’re working as best we can to get through it.

“But we’ve always tried to be quite private. We’ve never done the glossy magazines.”

His comments comes after it was claimed their marriage was over following reports Katie had cheated on Mark with another man.

At the time of the reports, a spokesperson for Mark insisted they were not splitting up.

They said: “Mark and Katie are not splitting up. Everything is fine between them and they have been at home together this week.”

The Chase airs weekdays on ITV at 5pm.
