Mark Knight fires ten club Bullets guaranteed to set dance floors on fire

TOOLROOM RECORDS boss Mark Knight has had an exemplary start to the year.

His first single of the new decade Mona Lisa has been smashing up the clubs for the last six months, while this week he drops the next edition of his club-focused Bullets series, featuring collaborations with three of the most exciting names in tech house: Siege (Circus, Stereo), Frederick & Kusse (Saved, etiquette) and Tuff London (Sola, elrow).

Bullets is the series that allows Mark to focus solely on what works in the club: a series of releases that has celebrated the heads-down, all-consuming nature of underground dance music. These are tracks to get lost to in the middle of a heaving crowd, with tough, chunky drums, pounding basslines and frenzied drops very much the order of the day.

In anticipation of Mark’s upcoming all night set at Joshua Brooks, Manchester this Friday February 28, we asked Mark to pick out 10 of his current guaranteed floor-fillers.

We caught up with Mark this week and he gave us the heads up on some of the tracks that are smashing it on his dance floors at the moment.

Risk Assessment, Jemeni G – Remember Mix (Yusek Extended Remix)

Really clever sultry spoken word vocal that tells the story of how disco turned in to house and also influenced many other genres. As always A1 production from Yuksek: a real record for the connoisseurs.

Pet Shop Boys – Monkey Business (Friend Within Remix)

Without doubt the best remix I have heard for a long long time. It takes nerves of steel to remix artists as iconic as the Pet Shop Boys, but Friend Within has absolutely nailed it.

Mark Knight – Mona Lisa

Mona Lisa is my latest single. I’ve been road testing since summer and have been playing this all over the world and its been going of everywhere from Sydney to LA. It’s a simple groove with an infectious vocal loop as the hook and bags of energy.

Jacq – Where Do I Go

Jacq is an artist that has come through the ranks at the Toolroom Academy and is now writing some  killer music that I play in every set. This is his latest on Toolroom Trax, a real peak time weapon. Definitely a name to watch out for in the future.

SAMO – Brought It On (Original Mix)

Man I love this record. This is the perfect transition record for me if I am playing all night long sets when I want to take up the intensity bridging from disco into house.

Junior Sanchez – The Final Story (Brokenears Remix)

A producer as great as Junior Sanchez on an incredible label in Miguel Migs’s Salted and a remix from Brokenears who are two DJ out of Italy on fire are moment making and remixing some fantastic disco. The perfect storm and a brilliant record.

Michael Gray feat Kimberly Brown – Brother Brother

In my humble opinion Michael is the best soulful house and disco producer in the world right now: he is just so consistently brilliant. This record is just class in every sense and has a baseline to die for. Whether you are in a club or just want to listen to great music go check this out.

Illyus & Barrientos – Promise

The Glaswegian duo have done it again with another vocal anthem. They’ve really come out the traps in 2020 with an absolute banger on Toolroom. What I love about what they do musically is that its sits so effortlessly across so many genres: it’s a bit tech, it’s a bit house and it allows their music to be played across such a broad spectrum of DJs.

Frederick & Kusse – The Beat – Toolroom Trax

The beat is a tech tribal monster with a percussive hook that tears up dance floors… more cow bell please!

Catch Mark Knight All Night Long at Joshua Brooks, Manchester on Friday February 28. Grab tickets HERE.
