Marie Osmond shares sweet photo of granddaughter Maude and reveals infant is 'doing very well'


Marie Osmond took to social media to thank fans for praying for her newborn granddaughter and revealed that the infant is on the mend after being rushed to the ICU.

The 59-year-old expressed her gratitude on Twitter and shared the first photo of the baby girl on Tuesday. 

Last week, the singer had pleaded with fans to pray for the baby after she suffered complications shortly following her birth.

‘So grateful to welcome my newest #granddaughter, Brianna & David’s first child Maude Bailey-Moon Schwep into the world,’ Marie tweeted.

The newly minted host of The Talk shared a precious black and white image of the infant sound asleep, swaddled in a heart printed blanket. 

Marie then gave fans a brief update on the baby’s condition. 

‘She is still in the hospital, but is doing very well! Thank you everyone for the prayers, it means so much to us! #schwepicbaby’

On Thursday, Marie revealed that her daughter Brianna Blosil Schwep, 21, and her cinematographer husband Dave Schwep, 42, had welcomed a baby girl but she had been taken straight to the children’s ICU. 

Addressing her 231,000 Twitter followers, she wrote: ‘Asking for prayers for my precious granddaughter born this evening 6lbs 10 ounces.’

Marie continued: ‘So thankful she was able to be taken to children’s ICU in one of our amazing @CMNHospitals that she is in their care!’

The singer did not reveal why her granddaughter was in the ICU – People magazine report that the baby arrived 10 days late.  

Marie has worked with CMN Hospitals [Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals] in the past, as she helped co-found the non-profit organization that raises funds for children’s hospitals, medical research, and community awareness of children’s health issues.

Marie – who is also mother to Stephen, 35, Jessica, 31, Rachael, 29, Brandon, 22, Matthew, 19 and Abigail, 16 – previously dubbed her children as ‘the best things [she’s] ever done’.   

The mother-of-eight welcomed her first child, son Stephen James Craig, with husband Stephen Lyle Craig in 1983.

After the star and her first husband divorced in 1985, Marie wed Brian Blosil in 1986, and later gave birth to the couple’s two biological children, Rachael and Matthew.

She and Brian also adopted five children together— Jessica, Michael, Brandon, Brianna, and Abigail.

Sadly, the star’s son Michael passed away at age 18 in February 2010.

Marie is now a grandmother-of-five with another grandchild on the way.
