Marie Osmond reveals son Michael Blosil, 18, was bullied before he took his own life in 2010

She lost her adopted son Michael Blosil in 2010 when the 18-year-old took his own life.

And on Tuesday’s edition of CBS’ The Talk, Marie Osmond spoke about how the teen had been bullied by other kids in the run up to his death.

‘I have never spoken about this before,’ the new co-host began, addressing the daytime talk show panel. ‘So, my son who died, he was bullied. He was bullied very heavily up until the time he committed suicide because of his sobriety.’

Marie, 59, went on: ‘I’ve got the texts. I mean they are horrendous and I never took action against it. But, I can tell you, honestly, I believe that that was a big component in him just feeling overwhelmed and that he didn’t fit in.’

‘I never took action against the three kids. I know who they are. But maybe it’s not a bad idea to have some kind of consequence because it’s getting out of hand,’ she concluded to applause from the studio audience.

Michael had been adopted as a baby by the singer and her then husband Brian Blosil. The couple, who adopted four other children and had two biological children, divorced in 1997 after 21 years of marriage.

In late February, 2010, Michael committed suicide by jumping off the roof of the Los Angeles apartment building he lived in.

He had suffered from depression and struggled with drug and alcohol addiction and in a suicide note, he spoke about feeling like he had no friends and would never fit in.

Last month, Marie told CBS Sunday Morning that she will never get over Michael’s loss.

‘You know, I don’t think you’re ever through it,’ she explained. ‘I think God gives you respites, and then all of a sudden it’ll hit you like the day it did. The ripple effect is so huge, what you leave behind.’
