Mariah Carey is Christmas royalty, but it looks as though she now fancies her chances at becoming the queen of Halloween too.

If Jack Skellington can do it, there’s no reason why the pop star can’t, right?

Taking to Instagram, the 49-year-old shared a picture of herself sat with her family as they prepared to show off their carving skills.

And while she didn’t mention her iconic hit, All I Want For Christmas Is You, the mother-of-two teased her season was just around the corner.

In the caption, she wrote: ‘Halloween – the prequel,’ alongside a pumpkin emoji.

Fans were quick to comment where they called the Always Be My Baby hitmaker their queen.

‘Queen of taking over holidays,’ one wrote while another added: ‘Omg queen of Halloween AND Christmas.’

Others were left floored by her finished pumpkin, that had the words ‘Not Yet’ carved into its face: ‘Lovin that #notyet.’

Someone else excitedly said: ‘SO TOMORROW IS THE CHRISTMAS SEASON.’

Mariah has been keeping the Christmas spirit alive, as she was recently confirmed as the face of Walkers’ Christmas campaign.

Following the announcement, the diva said: ‘Everyone knows how festive I am, and it’s been fun getting into the holiday spirit this year with Walkers crisps – they’re irresistible!

‘I can’t say too much about the campaign yet, but there may be some fun twists at the end!’

The campaign image sees Mariah dressed in a sequinned red dress with a plunging neckline, standing next to a sleigh on the show, while holding a bag of Walkers Ready Salted.

While Mariah may seem like a leftfield choice for the Walkers ads, usually fronted by Gary Lineker, she is pretty much the modern day patron saint of Christmas.

The star’s 1994 album Merry Christmas – featuring All I Want For Christmas Is You, festive classics like Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) and Santa Claus Is Comin’ To Town  – is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year and will be re-released on 1 November.

And the Grammy Award winner is taking her All I Want For Christmas festive show to Las Vegas and across the US in November and December.
