Pack up your tinsel folks, even Mariah Carey admits it’s a little too early to press play on All I Want For Christmas Is You.

Halloween isn’t over yet but naturally, Mariah fans are desperate to inject some Christmas cheer a little earlier than usual given the gloomy circumstances of the year.

One eager beaver Lamb (a Mariah fan, FYI), shared a screenshot of a Google Trend search showing that interest in Mariah’s iconic festive jam had slightly creeped up as December fast approaches.

‘It’s happening,’ Mike Nicolella captioned the image with all the anticipation.

However, Mariah, 50, caught wind of the excitement and promptly put him and any other anxious fans in their place.

‘Not yet,’ she declared as we all sheepishly retreated into our holes awaiting for the opening jingles of AIWFCIY to ring.

The pop star’s followers were conflicted with MC’s response.

One had faith and replied: ‘The Queen of Timing,’ while another argued: ‘ITS TIME MARIAH.’

‘Queen of not yet but i can’t wait!’ one enthused, while another politely warned: ‘Ma’am, we finna start without you.’

AIWFCIY reached its peak last year as it celebrated its 25th anniversary, finally soaring to number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the US marking its first time at the summit.

It was originally released on an EP in 1994 but US chart rules meant it wasn’t eligible to be counted as a single.

Well how times have changed as EPs and mixtapes are basically the new albums and streaming figures now allow for traditional classics like All I Want For Christmas Is You to return to the top 40 charts.

The Christmas classic has undergone some interesting remixes over the years, most notably the questionable 2011 remix with a young Justin Bieber.

Mariah reflected on the song’s unprecedented success and told Billboard in 2017: ‘I felt like it was a little bit too early in my career to be doing a Christmas album. And then — I decided to do it.

‘The crazy thing about it is, every year it tends to increase in popularity. I’m very thankful that people seem to still have an attachment to it. It makes me feel good when people tell me that it’s part of their lives.’
