Quentin Tarantino’s ninth film is expected to be a major player in the box office this summer.
The film’s stars hit the red carpet Monday night in Los Angeles as the film has it’s inaugural premiere in the states.
Margot Robbie stunned in a white gown for the premiere, evoking old Hollywood glamour, perfectly matching the film’s homage to the golden era.

He plays Rick Dalton in the film, a television and western actor who begins to fear his career is dwindling, the character is loosely based on Burt Reynolds.
Director and producer Tarantino recently said that he had DiCaprio in mind when he wrote the script for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood but was unsure if they would be able to get him.
Tarantino also praised the Oscar winner he said ‘He kind of stands alone today, like Al Pacino or Robert De Niro were in the ’70s, where they weren’t trying to do two movies a year — they could do anything they wanted, and they wanted to do this. So that means this must be pretty good.’

Set in 1969 Hollywood in an alternate timeline, it interlaces ‘multiple storylines in a modern fairy tale tribute to the final moments of Hollywood’s golden age.’
The film follows Rick Dalton (DiCaprio) as he dives into alcoholism over his dwindling careers alongside his best friend/stunt double Cliff Booth (Pitt).
Meanwhile Sharon Tate (Robbie) and her husband Roman Polanski move in next door to Dalton. After a working trip to Rome, Booth begins a relationship with a member of the Manson Family.
The group of killers take a group of hostages including Tate and the film climaxes with Booth and Dalton trying to foil their plan.

The film will go into wide release on July 26 and is anticipated to earn between $28 and $50 million opening weekend. Tarantino’s biggest opening weekend so far has been his 2012 hit Django Unchained, also starring DiCaprio, which earned $38 million opening weekend.
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood had its world premiere it the Cannes International Film Festival on May 21. It received rave reviews in France, receiving a six minute standing ovation and was praised for its casting and setting, though critics were divided on the film’s ending.
Also at Cannes, Tarantino received criticism for giving Robbie, the only female little, few lines. When asked about the decision the director said ‘I reject your hypothesis.’

While Variety’s Owen Gleiberman said it is ‘a heady, engrossing, kaleidoscopic, spectacularly detailed nostalgic splatter collage of a film, an epic tale of backlot Hollywood in 1969, which allows Tarantino to pile on all his obsessions. ‘
