Marcus Rashford sends message to Man Utd fans as he begins lengthy injury layoff

Marcus Rashford has vowed to continue being involved with Manchester United first team as he sends a message to fans.

United striker Rashford has been ruled out for at least six weeks after aggravating a back injury against Wolves last week after coming off the bench for a 16 minute cameo.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer revealed on Sunday that the England ace had suffered a stress fracture.

But Rashford, who is United’s top scorer this season, has admitted he is such a big Red Devils fan that he will be kicking every ball from the stands and attempting to help out around the team as much as possible.

And he stood by his words almost immediately as he arrived at United’s Carrington training ground on Monday.

“On the pitch or not, Manchester United fans don’t get much bigger than me,” Rashford tweeted. “You best believe I’ll be involved in team meetings, team huddles and team sessions throughout this recovery.

“Blink and I’ll be back, fitter than ever. See you soon.”

Solskjaer explained after United’s 2-0 defeat to Liverpool on Sunday how he plans to deal with the gap left by Rashford’s layoff.

“Marcus suffered a stress fracture against Wolverhampton,” Solskjaer said. “I don’t know how long he will be out for, we will give him enough time to heal. Normally six weeks before you get going slightly probably, and then he will need time to get match-fit again.

“We’ve just got to [cope] for a while. He’s been absolutely fantastic all season.

“We had a similar spell with Anthony out for eight weeks and Mason got a few more games, has got more experience, Juan [Mata]’s getting back to his best for me and we’ll just have to deal with it.”

Robin van Persie suffered a similar injury when he was playing and was ruled out for four months.

The Dutchman has told Rashford to not force his comeback and let nature do its job of healing him.

“I had a similar injury, a stress fracture in my lower back,” Van Persie told the  Premier League .

“I was out with that for four months. You can’t really do much, just rest and let it heal.

“But it is a difficult one because it always stays a little bit of a weakspot. Even now, it is not that I’m like in pain or something, but it’s a sensitive area. So you have to be really careful with that.”
