Marcus Rashford ready to commit to Man Utd after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer decision


Marcus Rashford is ready to sign his new Manchester United contract now Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is at the wheel.

The England striker was waiting to discover who would be in charge next before putting pen to paper.

But it appears the 21-year-old has heard enough and is now desperate to commit.

Solskjaer was confirmed for the next three years on Thursday having enjoyed an incredible run since replacing Jose Mourinho on a caretaker basis in December.

Now he has been appointment as permanent manager Rashford is ready to follow suit and pledge his future, say Sky Sports News .

Rashford quickly become disillusioned under previous boss Mourinho and was said to be considering leaving Old Trafford.

The youth product has eight goals in 18 appearances under the Norwegian and has a new lease of life since the change was made.

His deal expires in 2020 but a new five-year offer is on the table – with Barcelona reported to be ready to lure him away.

The United boss has spoken about Rashford’s importance to the club and also the progress of Paul Pogba.

He didn’t appear happy under Mourinho

“They are vital for our future,” he said. “That’s our aim as a club to be achieving what we have done in the past and that is the expectation here and of course we are hoping to build a team strong enough and worthy of the history of the club.”

He had already handed United a fitness boost ahead of their game against Watford on Saturday.

Rashford was forced to withdraw from England’s Euro 2020 qualifiers with an injury.

But he could be fit to start after Romelu Lukaku also pulled out of international duty during the recent break.

In a video, Rashford can be see performing various exercises. He begins by stepping on platforms, before performing a resistance run up incremental blocks.

Watford manager Javi Gracia says people shouldn’t be surprised by the impact the manager has had.

“It is not a surprise how well Solskjaer has done. He is doing really well changing the team,” he said ahead of the weekend game.

“He is getting good results with a good squad. They have a very good squad but to win and to be on the up is not easy for anybody. And in this case he has done a very good job.”
