Marcus Rashford says he’s ‘bang up for another derby’ after Manchester United were drawn against Manchester City for a place in the Carabao Cup final.

The forward continued his phenomenal run of form with the opening goal in a 3-0 win over Colchester on Wednesday night as United booked their place the semi-finals of the competition.

Colchester fell apart after Rashford’s 51st-minute strike as Ryan Jackson turned the ball into his own net and Anthony Martial added a third in quick succession on a comfortable evening for the Red Devils.

Rashford’s goal just after halt-time at Old Trafford was his 14th of the season in all competitions and the attacker was clearly in a confident mood as he discovered that United would be facing City in the next round.

Rashford produced a sublime goalscoring performance as United stunned City in the league earlier this month and he’s looking forward to playing Pep Guardiola’s side again in the new year.

Reacting to the draw, Rashford tweeted: ‘Made to work for it but job done tonight getting into semis. Bang up for another derby too.

‘Best games to play. Best games to win.’

Rashford later posted a picture of him and fellow United academy graduate Mason Greenwood with the message: ‘Up for keeping Manchester red mate?’

City progressed through to the last four after a comprehensive 3-1 victory over League One opposition Oxford United.

Leicester will take on Aston Villa in the other semi-final after their respective wins over Everton and Liverpool.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was delighted to progress through from Wednesday’s quarter-final but admitted there was still plenty of room for improvement in his side’s performance.

‘We’re pleased with the result but we’ve got to stamp our authority more,’ the Norwegian said.

‘I don’t think you beat City twice with the same tactics.

‘We’ll have to do better. Pep will have them fired up.’
