And Solskjaer still has Victor Lindelof, Chris Smalling, Phil Jones, Eric Bailly and Axel Tuanzebe in his squad ahead of the season.

The competition in defence has caused Argentine Rojo to access his options, according to ESPN.

Rojo has three-years remaining on his Old Trafford deal but if regular football cannot be offered the defender will look for a move out of Manchester.

United bosses rate the Argentina international at £25million.

Rojo made just eight appearances last season after suffering injury setbacks.

The defender, who has made starts at left-back at Old Trafford, played two games for United’s U-23 side last season.

Right-back Matteo Darmian is also a potential casualty this summer, after the arrival of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who arrived for £50m from Crystal Palace.

Barcelona were said to be shock admirers of Darmian – who is eyed to proved cover for left-back Jordi Alba.
