Marcelino 'arrives in London' amid links to Arsenal and Everton jobs

Former Valencia manager Marcelino has reportedly arrived in London amid speculation over a move to the Premier League.

Marcelino, 54, has been linked with the Arsenal and Everton jobs following the departures of Unai Emery and Marco Silva.

The Spaniard was sacked by Valencia at the start of the season and is now believed to be eyeing his next post.

Superdeporte reports Marcelino landed in London on Sunday morning and is ‘close to taking up a new project’.

Arsenal are on the lookout for Emery’s successor with a host of names linked with the post.

The likes of Niko Kovac, Patrick Vieira and Mikel Arteta have again been mooted as Arsenal’s next manager over the past few days.

Goal reports the Gunners have recently made contact with Marcelino, as have Everton.

And while he is yet to reach a verdict on the Arsenal post, he is believed to have told Everton he is not interested.

The Toffees also have an extensive shortlist but caretaker boss Duncan Ferguson is likely to be given more time after guiding them to a fine win over Chelsea on Saturday.

Kovac was interestingly at the match – and is expected to be at West Ham vs Arsenal on Monday – but insisted he is not in the running.

Meanwhile, Arsenal technical director Edu is thought to favour his ex-teammate Patrick Vieira in the search for their next manager.

The two played together in the early 2000s and were part of the famous Invincibles team which won the league and finished the 2003/2004 season unbeaten.

The Gunners are currently on their worst run since 1977, and have not won their last seven games in the Premier League.
