Manuel Neuer addresses Pep Guardiola return rumours as Bayern Munich eye Man City boss

Bayern Munich stars Manuel Neuer and Leon Goretzka have joked about Pep Guardiola making a return to Bundesliga to manage the club.

Guardiola has been linked with a move away from City, and he’s almost certain to move on if he can help the club win a Champions League this season.

He was said to be close to a move to Juventus in the summer but the Spaniard quashed those rumours and committed his immediate future to City.

City won the domestic treble last season, the first time that it’s ever been achieved by an English club.

But this term, Guardiola and co. are lagging behind in the Premier League title race as they sit nine points behind league leaders Liverpool.

And on Sunday, City lost to Liverpool 3-1 to further dent Guardiola’s side’s chances at winning a third consecutive Champions League.

With Niko Kovac’s Bayern sacking, the German club need a new manager but they’ve decided to wait until the summer.

For now, Hansi Flick is in charge of Bayern, who are third in the league.

But Neuer and Goretzka have teased a potential return for Guardiola, who has been linked with a move back to Bavaria by reports in Germany.

“I think you know Pep better than me,” Goretzka joked to Neuer.

And Neuer replied: “Pep knows you too for sure!”

“I hear this now for the first time. You will see what happens. What the decision makers at Bayern decide.

“For the past six days Hansi Flick has been doing very well.

“And those responsible will take a stand on the subject if they want him.”
