Moussa Dembele insists he wants to ‘enjoy a great season at Lyon’, amid speculation linking him with a transfer to Manchester United.

The former Fulham striker impressed as a second half substitute to help the Ligue 1 side come from behind and secure the Emirates Cup following a 2-1 win over Arsenal on Sunday.

Dembele was introduced at half-time by new Lyon manager, the former Arsenal left-back, Sylvinho and equalised with an adroit near post header following Memphis Depay’s cross and turned the game on its head when he benefited from Shkodran Mustafi’s error and produced a composed finish to beat Bernd Leno 15 minutes from the end.

The 23-year-old, who left Celtic in controversial circumstances last summer following a falling out with Brendan Rodgers, has been linked with a move to Old Trafford as a potential replacement for Romelu Lukaku, but the Frenchman insists he remains committed to his current employers.

‘The most important thing is that we won. I want to be an undisputed starter this season,’ he said.

‘I’m going to have perform well consistently. I want to have a great season with Lyon.’

United bought Lukaku from Everton two years ago but the Belgium international has fallen down Ole Gunnar Solskjaer pecking order.

The 26-year-old was present on the club’s pre-season tour of Australia and Asia, but failed to play a part in any of the four matches, nursing a minor injury.

Inter have had two official bids already rejected with United hoping to turn a profit on a player they bought for £75million from Everton.

Antoino Conte, who tried to sign the player while he was in charge of Chelsea, has made no secret of his desire to bring Lukaku to San Siro, but Juventus appear to be favourites and are giving consideration to offering Paulo Dybala in part exchange.
