Haaland is fast becoming one of the most coveted players in Europe after scoring 26 goals in 18 appearances this season.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has identified the 19-year-old as one of his top targets and ESPN claim United are poised enquire about his availability in January.

That figure could increase even further before the end of the season if Haaland continues his remarkable form.

As a result, United feel January is the right time to move for Haaland, as top clubs like Juventus, Barcelona and Real Madrid begin to turn their heads in the direction of the Norwegian star.

United are willing to buy Haaland in the winter window and loan him straight back to RB Salzburg.

The Red Devils do not want to be drawn into a bidding war with the likes of Real Madrid in the summer and the club are prepared to spend in January if their top targets become available.

United will sign another striker in January even if they are made wait to make their move for Haaland, with Juventus goalscorer Mario Mandzukic heavily linked with a switch to Old Trafford.
