Lee Sharpe believes Jadon Sancho has the ability to ‘light up Old Trafford’ if he completes a move to Manchester United in the summer.

Sancho has had another outstanding campaign with Borussia Dortmund, racking up 15 goals and 19 assists in all competitions, and the 19-year-old winger is regarded as one of the finest young talents in Europe.

Reports in Germany claim Sancho will be on the move at the end of the season, with Chelsea, Liverpool and United all interested in the England international.

Sancho has been heavily linked with United for well over a year and the Premier League giants would have no issue meeting Dortmund’s £100million asking price for the teenager.

Former United midfielder Sharpe believes Sancho has ‘proven his consistency’ at Dortmund and is confident the forward would ‘fit in great’ at Old Trafford.

Asked whether he would like to see Sancho in United’s colours, Sharpe told Sky Sports: ‘Yeah, without a doubt. He’s one of the hottest properties in football at the moment.

‘In his last ten games he’s scored eight and created eight. Incredible stats. And it’s not just that he’s been doing it for a couple of months, he’s been doing it for a few seasons now.

‘He’s proven he’s got consistency, he’s proven he can do it week after week at a high level and this is the sort of player that United as a team and United as a group of fans that you want your club to be linked with.

‘I think he’s a fantastic player and would fit in great at United.’

Sharpe has backed Sancho to ‘light up’ the Theatre of Dreams next season should United win the race for his signature.

‘I think he’s got to be up there. It’s very difficult for young players to play at that consistent level,’ Sharpe added.

‘He’s done it for a few seasons now, he’s created chances, he’s making defenders look foolish, he’s scoring his fair share of goals and he’s showing he’s the complete player.

‘His work ethic is fantastic and he’s the sort of player you want at your club and I’m sure United won’t be the only club chasing him.

‘Fingers crossed they get him and he can light up Old Trafford next season.’
