Jack Grealish has revealed that he has ‘always wanted to play at Old Trafford’ amid speculation of a potential transfer move to Manchester United.

The 24-year-old has had an outstanding start to the 2019/20 campaign with promoted side Aston Villa, notching up five goals and five assists in his opening 17 league games.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has reportedly identified Grealish as a target for United ahead of the January transfer window and the Norwegian got to see Villa’s captain up close earlier this month.

Grealish produced an eye-catching performance at the Theatre of Dreams and broke the deadlock with a sublime strike in the 11th minute of the 2-2 draw.

The attacking midfielder was over the moon to get the chance to play at Old Trafford – his favourite stadium in the English top flight – and regards his goal that day as his best ever.

‘That was my favourite goal ever. Scoring at Old Trafford… I’ve always wanted to play at Old Trafford,’ Grealish told Sky Sports.

‘I’ve played there before in a reserve cup final but it’s not the same when it’s like that. That’s obviously my favourite ground in the Premier League.

‘It was one of them, as soon as I shot I knew it was going into the top corner and I couldn’t have hit it any better.’

Grealish admits he surprised himself with how much he made the ball move to beat David de Gea in the United goal.

‘If you actually watch the goal, I get so much curve on the ball I don’t actually know I got that much curve on it.

‘When I first got the ball I faced [Andreas] Pereira up and I know for a fact… I would back myself one-vs-one against anyone in the league.

‘And as soon as I cut inside and I shot I knew where I wanted to put it and luckily it went in.’

Solskjaer was full of praise for Grealish following the clash but remained coy over a possible move for the Englishman.

‘I can’t talk too much about other teams’ players if they are Man United calibre or targets,’ Solskjaer said.

‘But fantastic goal. I think he’s hit one of those corners that I’ve hit a couple of times.

‘It was a great finish but then again we should defend better and show him down the left.

‘But what a goal and he played a good game, definitely.’
