Manchester United ace Victor Lindelof has brushed off the criticism he received from Jose Mourinho following last weekend’s abject 2-0 defeat to West Ham.

Lindelof, 25, has nailed down his place in alongside summer signing Harry Maguire in United’s central defence and has played every minute of the Premier League campaign so far this season.

United’s attack have taken much of the blame after a disappointing start to the season, but fingers were pointed at Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s back four as they conceded twice at the London Stadium last weekend.

Speaking ahead of the match, Mourinho, who signed Lindelof from Benfica back in June 2017, claimed the centre-back can be easily ‘bullied’ in one-vs-one scenarios inside the box.

‘As Gary Neville was saying and totally right, Lindelof is very, very good in some aspects of the game but he can be bullied in the one-on-one in the box,’ the former United manager said on Sky Sports.

‘He’s not especially good in the air and Maguire has that kind of presence and physicality that is very, very important.’

Lindelof insists he was unaware of Mourinho’s recent comments but accepts that pundits are entitled to their opinions, no matter how harsh.

‘For me it has never been a problem, I’m a very easy guy,’ the Sweden international told Sky Sports.

‘There is always going to be someone talking or someone else. When you play for this club there is always going to be people criticising you and the way you play.

‘For me it has never been a problem, even when I play good there is someone criticising me for something. It’s part of the job, everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

‘I’m just trying to do my thing and I don’t focus on those things. I didn’t even notice, or know about it, before you told me. That’s how I live my life and focus on my things.’

The former Benfica man is determined to win silverware with United after putting pen to paper on a new contract earlier this month.

‘If you are playing for Manchester United [scrutiny] is part of it,’ he added.

‘If you do not perform you hear about it, it’s quite normal.

‘I could see my future here so that’s why I signed a new contract – I’m really happy about that.

‘We have a good thing going and I still want to win the big trophies with this club, that has been my goal since I signed.’
