Manchester United are hoping for a speedy recovery for Scott McTominay after the midfielder was forced to withdraw from the Scotland squad.
Scotland are due to take on Cyprus on Saturday and Kazakhstan on Tuesday in their Euro 2020 qualifiers.
McTominay, however, is unavailable for selection and United have confirmed the 22-year-old has undergone a scan on his ankle.
United did not reveal the results of the scan, but did say they hoped to have McTominay back for selection soon.
McTominay limped off during United’s Premier League win over Brighton before needing the help of a stretcher to leave the pitch.
There are fears the Scotsman could miss four weeks to the ankle injury, as revealed by Metro.co.uk.
He was a doubt before the clash with Brighton and only Harry Maguire has played more minutes for United than McTominay this season.
If McTominay does miss a month of action, he will be sidelined for United’s games against Sheffield United, Aston Villa, Astana, Tottenham and Manchester City.
United will have two weeks to assess McTominay and do not resume action until 24 November, when they travel to newly-promoted side Sheffield United.
Several United stars are on international duty, while members of the squad who are free during the break have decided to go to Dubai for a warm weather training camp.
