Manchester United stance on Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford revealed amid interest from Real Madrid and Barcelona

Manchester United have no intention of selling either Paul Pogba or Marcus Rashford in the summer, despite interest from Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Pogba fuelled speculation over his future last week when he admitted a transfer to the Santiago Bernabeu would be a dream, while Rashford has reportedly become one of Barcelona’s top targets as they look to replace Luis Suarez.

Both are out of contract in the next two seasons, with Rashford’s ending at the end of the 2019/20 and United have their work cut out to keep the academy graduates.

Any bid will be rejected for Pogba this summer, according to ESPN, while contract talks will be opened with the Frenchman once the current season has concluded.

The club have abandoned their pursuit of Barcelona ace Ivan Rakitic and hope to build the team around the World Cup winner.

Once United reach a conclusion with David de Gea’s contract negotiations, attention will turn to both Pogba and Rashford – who both have an option to extend their current deals by a year – and both can expect a lucrative new deal.

Rashford’s situation is particularly perilous given his contract expires at the end of next season, however, United will reject any approaches for him out of hand this summer, according to the Evening Standard.

While the duo look set to stay, United will allow young defender Axel Tuanzebe to return to Aston Villa again on loan next season, according to The Sun.

The 21-year-old has spent the past 18 months at Villa Park and has impressed United bosses with his application.

Tuanzebe hasn’t featured for Dean Smith’s Championship play-off hopefuls since December due to a foot injury but has impressed when fit and available.
