Manchester United seek new France and Spain scouts to find ‘world class’ talent

Manchester United are looking to appoint two new first-team scouts based in France and Spain, who will be tasked with identifying “world class” talent.

The club posted advertisements for two new vacancies on Tuesday night, in the hope of attracting applicants who can ensure “a talent pipeline and world-class first team squad”.

The successful candidate must have “a track record of identifying and scouting elite players” and will report to the club’s head of scouting operations.

United are undertaking a rebuild of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad after last season’s failure to secure a top-four finish and qualify for the Champions League.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka is set to become Solskjaer’s second signing of the summer after an initial £45m fee was agreed with Crystal Palace on Tuesday.

The club are now expected to turn their attentions to central defence and midfield, where the likes of Harry Maguire, Bruno Fernandes and Sean Longstaff are admired. 

United are also restructuring off-the-pitch. The search for a new technical director to oversee first-team affairs – including elements of recruitment – continues.

The two newly-appointed scouts will join a large network of talent spotters, one which United former manager Jose Mourinho found bloated and unwieldy.
