Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has the full backing of the Glazer family and the Manchester United board, according to reports.

United slumped to their third defeat of the Premier League season on Sunday, suffering a 1-0 loss to Newcastle at St James’ Park.

The Red Devils are now languishing in the bottom half of the table in 12th and take on league leaders Liverpool when they return from the international break in two weeks.

However, despite the most recent set-back, executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward and the club owners, the Glazers, remain committed to Solskjaer’s vision for the club, according to the Daily Mail.

United hired Solskjaer on a permanent basis in March and accept the bid to rejuvenate the club is a long-term project.

Solskjaer has won just two of his last 13 league games in charge, but was without a host of his first-team stars for the visit to Newcastle.

Paul Pogba, Anthony Martial, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Victor Lindelof and Luke Shaw were all missing through injury and United are confident results will improve when the squad is fully fit again.

With the pressure continuing to build on Solskjaer, the Norwegian insisted there was no quick fix.

‘It will take however long it will have to take [to improve] because it’s a journey we’ve started on and the culture is getting there,’ he said after the loss to Newcastle.

‘It’s a delight to work with the lads every single day because they’re hard-working. I can’t give you any time but we’ll get there.

‘We’ve given ourselves a big, big uphill task to get among the top four, never mind top six, this season but it’s tight and we’ve just got to get a run together and get the confidence back in the boys.

‘[As a club] we’ve come together and discussed the direction we’re going. If you only walk on sunny days you’ll never get to your destination.

‘So we’ll have these days, we’ll have these downs.

‘We’ve had a couple of them this year, or three defeats now already. It’s disappointing but we’ll keep on working. We know where we want to get to.’
