Manchester United supporters have urged Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to hand Angel Gomes a first-team call-up after he scored a brilliant goal for the club’s U23s against West Ham.
The 18-year-old is highly regarded at United and became the club’s youngest ever Premier League debutant when he featured against Crystal Palace in May 2017 aged 16 years and 263 days old.
Solskjaer handed Gomes two Premier League appearances during the second half of last season, however, the England U19 international hasn’t been able to force his way into the first-team so far this season.
That may soon change, though, after he seized the opportunity to impress for United’s U23 side on Friday night by scoring an excellent individual goal against West Ham at Old Trafford.
Yes, @AGomes_47 — what a strike! ?
There could be plenty more of this to come, so make sure you tune in to #MUTV now for LIVE match coverage ? https://t.co/6tjkfj7o22 pic.twitter.com/Iiht2IyIbY

Receiving the ball midway through West Ham’s half, Gomes slalomed towards goal before unleashing an unstoppable shot with his right foot that nestled in the side netting to hand Neil Wood’s side a 1-0 lead.
There had been speculation that Gomes might have been included in United’s squad for Saturday’s trip to Southampton following injuries to Luke Shaw and Anthony Martial, however, he was kept back for the U23s instead.
Gomes’ peers Mason Greenwood and James Garner are reported to have travelled to the South Coast, though, and could be in contention to play as Solskjaer seeks to address his injury problems in defence and attack.
There are plenty of United fans who think Gomes should be with Greenwood and Garner, judging by some reactions on Twitter…
Angel Gomes scored this unreal goal for the U23s. This man is so talented and should be a regular in the first team. Top player. pic.twitter.com/RqRlqYz1l1

You’re telling me that Angel Gomes cant get into our side over Lingard… pic.twitter.com/DxLn34HNHC

Wouldn’t blame Angel Gomes for walking away when his contract ends next summer. Olé refuses to even put him on the bench despite him being our best prospect alongside Greenwood. Already a better player than Lingard.

ACADEMY NEWS: Tonight’s teamsheet…Angel Gomes with a special goal put us in the lead…West Ham equalised just before halftime…Williams and Gomes outstanding…Galbraith and Elanga also playing well. 1-1 at the break.

I don’t know why Angel Gomes hasn’t got his chance. Also he needs to sign a new contract too don’t let go of him. He is so much better than playing for the under 23’s. Don’t waste his career United

Angel Gomes is playing for the U23’s tonight (just put us 1-0 up v West Ham), meaning it’s another gameweek with him out of the squad. Get ready to suffer with Lingard or Mata once again.
