Paul Scholes proved class is permanent with an outrageous bit of skill during Vincent Kompany’s testimonial on Wednesday night at the Eithad.
The former Manchester United star was among the Premier League XI who took on Manchester City’s legends.
With the current crop of United midfielders struggling to break down teams of late, Scholes put them all to shame with a superb pass in the second half.
A no-look sliced pass from Scholes drew a gasp from the Eithad crowd, with many United fans swooning over their legend on social media.
And even more supporters suggested Scholes could still get into United’s midfield, even at he age of 44.
I’m not even joking when i say get Van Persie and Paul Scholes back at United……
Scholes to boss the Midfield and show Pogba how it’s done and Van Persie to show Rashford how to score goals

Michael Carrick & Paul Scholes would still get in @ManUtd midfield… absolute joke!

It’s sad to think that players such as Michael Carrick (38), Paul Scholes (44), & Robin Van Persie (36) would all stil get into the current Manchester United side.

Wouldn’t be a charity game featuring Paul Scholes if it didn’t have united fans claiming he’d fit right into our midfield still ?

Absolute filth from Paul Scholes. He walks into our midfield, even at this age. (44)pic.twitter.com/OFQLKpS079

While Scholes staked his claim for a surprise United comeback, his former team-mate Robin van Persie also impressed.
But the Premier League XI went behind to an early goal after some poor defending from Gary Neville allowed Martin Petrov to charge through on goal unchallenged and smash home the opener.
Robbie Keane managed to level the score after a following move before Van Persie put the visitors 2-1 ahead with a trademark finish into the corner.
But with club legend Kompany watching from the sidelines, City grabbed a late equaliser through Benjani.
