Manchester United are planning for next season with Jadon Sancho at Old Trafford after the Dortmund star ‘unofficially confirmed’ his desire to join the club in the last round of talks.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer identified the 20-year-old as a priority signing just six weeks into his role as interim boss at Old Trafford but United’s collapse at the end of last season ended their hopes of signing the former Manchester City winger.

However, United believe Dortmund are now ready to sell Sancho this summer and his return to the Premier League is not dependent upon whether the Red Devils qualify for the Champions League or not.

United are not the only club interested in Sancho’s signature, with Chelsea and Liverpool also keen on the right winger.

But the Irish Independent claim the ‘word’ coming from United is that they are now confident of completing the deal after the winger intimated his desire to move to Old Trafford.

United have offered Sancho the coveted no.7 shirt at the Theatre of Dreams, which is currently worn by Alexis Sanchez.

The Chilean is expected to be sold this summer and United will reinvest Sanchez’s wages into Sancho with the report claiming that the teenager stands to earn up to £400,000-a-week in the north-west.

That would make Sancho United’s highest earner by some distance but there is a reason that Liverpool, Chelsea and Real Madrid have cooled their interest as there are only a handful of clubs in world football that could finance such a deal.

One of those would be Sancho’s former club Manchester City. Pep Guardiola was furious with Sancho’s decision to leave the Eithad in 2017 and City have the right to match any accepted offer on the winger.

However, Sancho does not want to return to the Etihad and he’s believed to be excited by the brand of football and emphasis on youth that Solskjaer has created at Old Trafford.

The winger is also close friends with United pair Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard, who have spoken to him regularly about a move to the club.
