Eric Bailly has reportedly entered talks with Manchester United over signing a new long-term contract.

Bailly has just 16 months left on his current deal and United are keen to extend his stay.

The Ivory Coast international has been injury prone since his arrival from Villarreal but he has put in some solid performances this season when fit.

That has convinced United to attempt to extend his stay and talks have begun over a new three-year deal, according to The Sun.

If he refuses to put pen to paper, United may look to cash in on him in the summer.

They are unwilling to lose the Ivorian on a free transfer and will listen to offers for him if his long-term future is not secured.

While Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is a fan of the 26-year-old, he still wants the club to sign a new centre-back in the summer.

He’s keen to find a long-term partner for club captain Harry Maguire.

Sevilla centre-half Jules Kounde is one of their top targets, while Red Bull Leipzig’s Ibrahima Konate is also under consideration.

Ben White, the Brighton defender, is another player attracting interest from the Premier League’s big boys and any arrival could see Bailly question his future.

He is already fighting with Victor Lindelof for a starting berth and he won’t want to fall any further down the pecking order.

There is plenty of interest in Bailly, with sides in Italy and Spain both tracking his situation.
