Man Utd will only open Paul Pogba contract talks on one condition as Real Madrid eye deal

Manchester United star Pogba is a top Real Madrid transfer target for the summer, despite Los Blancos already splashing the cash.

After finishing third in the La Liga table last term, behind both Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, Zinedine Zidane has already moved for the likes of Eden Hazard, Ferland Mendy, Eder Militao and Luka Jovic.

Real Madrid want Pogba, though, whose agent Mino Raiola recently confirmed his client’s desire to leave Manchester United.

“Everyone knows the willingness of Paul to move on. We are in the process of that. Everyone knows what the feelings of Paul are,” he said.

“Everyone within the club, from the manager to the owner, knows Paul’s wishes.”

And the Evening Standard say United will only sit down with Pogba and talk about a new contract if he can be persuaded into stopping to seek a move away.

A year ago, the France international was eager to leave the Red Devils for Barcelona.

And he still wants out now, despite Ole Gunnar Solskjaer since replacing Jose Mourinho in the Old Trafford dugout.

Solskjaer wants Pogba to stay, having managed him since his time in the club’s academy.

Real Madrid are currently unwilling to match United’s huge £150million price tag for their star performer.

But Zidane is a big admirer and feels he would be ideal alongside the likes of Luka Modric and Casemiro next season.

Meanwhile, Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol recently claimed United were open to letting Pogba go – but only for the right price.

“In public, United are saying he’s not for sale but they also have a problem because that contract year-by-year is going down,” he said.

“There’s only two years left on it now with an option of another year – if United don’t sell him now his value is going to diminish.

“Behind the scenes are United are saying this is the time to get rid of him.

“United are looking for £150m. Madrid have problems with FFP because they’ve spent so much money already but I think if they want him they’ll find a way of structuring a deal.

“The other club who want Pogba are Juventus, where United signed him from, but again I don’t think Juventus can afford to pay £150m.

“I’ve been told that the maximum Juventus could afford to pay for him would be about £89m.”

Pogba has won the EFL Cup and Europa League with United since touching down from Juventus three years ago.
