Man Utd transfer target Boubakary Soumare sent off for Lille as Red Devils scouts watch on

Boubakary Soumare was sent off for Lille against Dijon in front of Manchester United scouts as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer eyes a deal for the midfielder. The club are looking to bring at least one midfielder to Old Trafford this month after injuries to Scott McTominay and Paul Pogba.

Express Sport understands United sent scouts to Dijon to watch their target in action against Lille on Sunday afternoon.

However, Soumare did not do his hopes of landing a Premier League move the world of good after being shown red in the second half.

The 20-year-old was given a second yellow card for fouling Romain Amalfitano, which the referee decided was one offense too many and handed Soumare his marching orders.

Lille lost the game 1-0, courtesy of Julio Tavares’ 47th-minute strike.

“We are building towards something and I’m almost getting bored myself talking about this, and the fans will definitely be bored listening to me talk about what we do have as a vision and a plan.

“I have those conversations with Ed all the time and we are looking at how we are going to look in one month’s time, five months’ time, in the longer period.

“He knows my feelings and we know our feelings. I am very happy with these players.”

United are keen to bolster their midfield options but are cautious that clubs will not sell their most prized assets mid-season.
