Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sacked from Manchester United

It’s the end of the road for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Manchester United.

The Norwegian was finally given his marching orders on Saturday night following several disappointing results.

United’s hierarchy ran out of patience with him after a humiliating 4-1 defeat at the hands of Watford at Vicarage Road.

The Red Devils are now eighth in the Premier League with 17 points, six off the Champions League places and 12 adrift of leaders Chelsea.

But as United prepare for life without Solskjaer, the January transfer window is fast approaching.

It is not yet clear who will take over the reins at Old Trafford, but one things for sure, the new boss will want to bring his own ideas and signings to the club.

With that in mind, here, Mirror Football takes a look at the latest gossip from Old Trafford.

Zidane ‘rejects’ United

Zinedine Zidane has been linked with the Man Utd job

Zinedine Zidane has turned down the chance to manage United for the second time in his career, according to reports.

El Partidazo de Cope say there are three reasons why the former Real Madrid boss doesn’t want to take up the managerial post.

The first of which relates to language, while Zidane’s wife is said to have no interest in moving to England. The third is because Zidane is reportedly tempted by the PSG job.

Zidane has been out of work since leaving Real Madrid this summer for the second time and was replaced by Carlo Ancelotti.

Xavi rejects van de Beek

Donny van de Beek’s future at Old Trafford is uncertain

New Barcelona boss Xavi is reportedly not interested in signing United midfielder Donny van de Beek.

According to Spanish outlet Sport, Xavi has rejected the chance to make a move for the 24-year-old.

The Dutchman continues to face an uncertain future at Old Trafford following a lack of first-team minutes under previous boss Solskjaer.

Van de Beek was given a rare chance to come off the bench on Saturday, and he proved it was the right decision by pulling a goal back for United against Watford.

The ex-Ajax midfielder joined United in 2020 in a move worth £35million but has scarcely been given the chance to showcase his abilities.

Jesse Lingard is expected to depart Old Trafford in January in favour of another loan move, reports claim.

Sky Sports reported on Friday that contract talks between Lingard and United had broken down.

And now Birmingham Live say the 28-year-old will leave on a short-term loan deal in January.

Tottenham, Aston Villa, West Ham and Newcastle are four of six clubs said to be interested in the midfielder.

Lingard’s current deal at United expires at the end of June meaning he will be able to negotiate freely with other clubs from January onwards.

The England midfielder spent the second half of the previous campaign on loan at West Ham under David Moyes, where he revived his Premier League career.
