Man Utd transfer round-up including latest on Upamecano and Soumare interest

The feel-good factor is back at Old Trafford with the club top of the Premier League again and targeting silverware.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s summer recruits are beginning to bed in nicely with Amad Diallo the latest to join up with the first-team following his switch from Atalanta.

And the cogs keep turning behind the scenes as United look to trim down their squad as well as pinpointing further targets.

A number of senior stars are facing an impending exit with United keen to recoup some cash to fund their next moves in the market.

With all that in mind here are the latest transfer rumours from around Old Trafford.

Leipzig resigned to losing Upamecano

RB Leipzig have given up hope of keeping hold of Dayot Upamecano beyond the summer but are not planning on losing him before then, reports The Guardian .

United are among a host of top clubs chasing the defender’s signature, with competition from the likes of Liverpool, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.

Upamecano’s release clause comes into effect at the end of the current campaign, at which point he is likely to be the subject of offers.

But Leipzig are confident of staving off interest until then so the centre-back can help with the push for honours in the coming months.

United not moving for Soumare

Lille midfielder Boubakary Soumare remains a target for United but will not be coming to Old Trafford this month.

United have sent scouts to watch the 21-year-old previously and have been impressed with his performances.

But, as reports The Athletic, Soumare is still on the back burner for United for now, while Chelsea and Newcastle are also keen.

Odion Ighalo is interested in taking his career to America when his United contract expires this month.

The Nigerian has been a decent stop-gap for the Red Devils but is seemingly surplus to requirements following the arrival of Edinson Cavani.

Ighalo has not ruled out extending his deal but sees Major League Soccer as an exciting prospect.

“Today, I’m in Manchester but at the end of the month I don’t know where I’m going to be,” Ighalo told ESPN . “If it’s possible I’d like to stay here but if not I have to go.

“I have options. I wait for my agent. He is doing his job and I’m doing mine. At the end of the month, we have to decide what is best and we’ll take it. If it’s possible I’d like to play in MLS but I have to wait to see if it’s possible.

“The league is doing well and if the opportunity arises then I’d grab it with two hands.”
