Manchester United may have a Europa League final to look forward to on Wednesday but that doesn’t stop the constant transfer speculation, as we edge closer to the summer window opening.
Talk of Harry Kane moving to the likes of United and Man City is likely to continue for some time yet, with the Spurs captain reportedly telling chairman Daniel Levy he wants to leave in the coming months.
But that isn’t the only player being linked with a move to Old Trafford and there are also reports of possible departures.
Here Mirror Football takes a look at the latest Man United transfer news .
Europa League final rejection could be the final straw
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes that whoever misses out on the Europa League final out of David de Gea and Dean Henderson will want to leave the club this summer, according to ESPN .
Henderson and De Gea have shared goalkeeping duties this season and it is something which has reportedly frustrated both men.
It appeared de Gea had been ousted as number one in March when the Spaniard missed the Crystal Palace fixture due to what Solskjaer described as ‘personal reasons’ and Henderson was chosen in the next eight Premier League fixtures.
However, the pair have been sharing the duties again in the last month, with de Gea picked for the Europa League semi-finals and two of the last four Premier League matches, while Henderson was selected for the other two and also the FA Cup semi-final.
There have been reports that de Gea has edged ahead of Henderson in the race to be number one for the Europa League final with Villarreal on Wednesday night.
And ESPN claims ‘sources have said that he accepts that the one who misses out in Gdansk will consider it the end of his United career’.
United will need ‘monster numbers’ to land striker
Manchester United ’s decision to extend Edinson Cavani’s stay at Old Trafford does not mean the club are done when it comes to attacking acquisitions this summer.
United are among a host of clubs hoping to sign Kane but if they are unsuccessful in their bid for the Spurs captain, then reports suggest they will consider a move for Fiorentina’s Dusan Vlahovic.
The Serbian has scored 21 goals in 37 Serie A games this season, despite his side ending the campaign in 13th position.
And Corriere dello Sport claim ‘a shower of money would be needed’ to even start discussions with the club.
The Italian publication claims ‘no price has been set for the player’ but that it is ‘taken for granted that to sit around a table, you will need monster numbers’.
United’s plan for exciting academy trio
Manchester United plan to keep talented trio Anthony Elanga, Hannibal Mejbri and Shola Shoretire in their first team squad next season unless they receive a loan move deemed too good to turn down.
The three academy graduates all featured for United as they beat Wolves 2-1 on Sunday, with Elanga scoring his first senior goal for the club and Mejbri making his first team debut.
The Manchester Evening News claim United plan to keep the teenagers at the club for the 2021/22 campaign, although they will consider ‘really good loan offers’.
