Paul Pogba has been linked with a move to Real for most of the season and it’s said that the France international is keen on going.
But Pogba has been, arguably, Manchester United’s best player this season and it was originally thought the club would be opposed to letting him leave.
But according to the Independent, United are now willing to let Pogba go.
Two of the factors leading to United’s reluctant decision is down to both commercial value and Pogba’s influence on the dressing room.
The report states that United feel the 26-year-old’s marketability is less than what they anticipated when they signed him from Juventus in 2016.
There’s also worry that Pogba is having a negative affect on the dressing room at Old Trafford, and that the problems the World Cup-winning captain had under Jose Mourinho are beginning to creep back in.
Pogba, however, won’t be sold to Real for anything less than £150m, which is £50m more than what the Spanish giants will be paying Chelsea for Eden Hazard.
Back in March, Pogba hinted he was thinking about a dream move to the Bernabeu one day.
“At the moment I’m happy in Manchester. I play. There’s a new coach,” he said.
“Real Madrid is one of the biggest clubs in the world.
“I’ve always said it is a dream club for every player.”
But Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer quickly stated his confidence that Pogba would be playing in Manchester next season.
Real are looking to reform their team this summer having endured a rather barren run over the course of the season just gone.
A difficult league campaign coupled with Champions League humiliation at the hands of Dutch champions Ajax forced club president Florentino Perez’s hand in making a managerial change.
Zidane was brought back in to replace Santiago Solari, nearly a year on from his departure from the club.
Hazard is thought to be on the cusp of making his dream move to Real and the club are also interested in Tottenham’s Christian Eriksen.
