Cavani’s dad’s intervention

Edinson Cavani’s father, Luis, wants his son to leave Paris Saint-Germain for Atletico Madrid.

Cavani has been linked with Manchester United – although the club reportedly turned down the opportunity to sign the striker – and Chelsea, who are keen on an 18-month deal for the 32-year-old.

But the striker’s dad does not want him to flee to England.

“He wants to leave because he needs to play,” Luis said on El Chiringuito TV. “I would like him to go to Atletico [Madrid].”

Chong exit

Tahith Chong is nearing the exit door at Manchester United after holding talks with Inter Milan.

TuttoSport in Italy report that the player and his entourage have met Nerazzurri officials on more than one occasion over a move.

The 20-year-old is also said to be interested in a move to Juventus, though, with his United contract expiring in the summer.

United have offloaded Romelu Lukaku, Alexis Sanchez and Ashley Young to Inter in the last five months.

Grealish decision

Jack Grealish has committed his future to Aston Villa until the end of the season.

The Aston Villa playmaker has been intensely linked with a move to Manchester United this month but, according to the Mirror, he wants to focus on keeping his boyhood club in the Premier League.

Grealish is not said to have had his head turned by interest and has three-and-a-half years left to run on his Villa Park deal.

Villa sit 16th in the Premier League after beating relegation rivals Watford 2-1 last night thanks to a 95th-minute stoppage time winner.

Cavani decision

Manchester United have decided against signing PSG striker Edinson Cavani.

The Uruguayan has handed in a transfer request at Parc des Princes with six months left to run on his contract.

According to The Times, Cavani was offered to United but the club elected to turn him down.

Old Trafford officials would rather sign younger players than the 32-year-old, despite their frontline issues following Marcus Rashford’s back injury.

United’s stance has opened the door to Chelsea, who are contemplating an 18-month deal for the No 9. PSG are ostensibly demanding £23million as a last-ditch attempt to benefit from his departure, though.

Fernandes £46m proposal

Manchester United have upped their offer for Bruno Fernandes to £46m (€55m), according to reports in Italy.

Tuttomercatoweb claim United have tabled the fresh bid and it is being considered by Sporting Lisbon.

The report says the Portuguese club were willing to drop to £51m (€60m), but may consider the fresh offer if it includes up to £4m (€5m) in bonuses.

United’s proposed add-ons in their initial offer centred around the club winning the Premier League and Champions League, which were deemed unrealistic by Sporting.

Bellingham bid

Manchester United have launched a £30million bid for Birmingham youngster Jude Bellingham amid competition from European heavyweights.

According to The Sun, United have made clear to Birmingham that they will pay the heft sum for their 16-year-old.

The Red Devils face competition from the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund for Bellingham’s signature.

The midfielder, who has made 25 Championship appearances this season, currently earns £145-a-week on his scholars’ contract but can sign a bumper professional deal once he turns 17 on June 29.
