Man Utd to offer Crystal Palace £50million for Aaron Wan-Bissaka ahead of squad overhaul

The England Under-21 international has been on Manchester United’s radar for several months and has greatly impressed the Red Devils brass.

United made their move for the 21-year-old last week, tabling a bid of £40million.

That offer was firmly rejected by Crystal Palace, who are keen to retain the defender’s services.

Their resolve, however, will be tested by a fresh £50million bid for the youngster, who broke into the Palace first team in the 2017-18 season.

Palace value Wan-Bissaka at £60million and will likely remain steadfast in their refusal to sell the right-back unless their valuation is met.

United are on the look-out for a new first-choice right-back following the summer departure of Antonio Valencia.

Ashely Young has often deputised for Valencia but has is not a viable long-term solution to the club’s problem given his age.

Former United right-back and club legend Gary Neville is happy with his old side’s pursuit of Wan-Bissaka and believes he’ll be a big success at Old Trafford.

“He’s a massive talent and the club, to be fair, have always signed young, emerging British talent,” Neville said of Wan-Bissaka in an interview with the Evening Standard.

“I don’t think that should change and it would seem to me that the club would like to go back down that route and he is one.

“The price is always going to be big because clubs are wise now to it

“You can’t pinch players off clubs for £5million or £6million.

“They are wise to it and have the Premier League funding of £100-odd million so they don’t need to panic.

“They don’t need extra £5m or £10m – they want £50m or £60m.

“Leicester will be the same for [Ben] Chilwell and Maguire or [James] Maddison.

“All these mid-tier clubs won’t let players go for £5m, £6m, £8m, £10m now.”
