Man Utd target Bellingham 'a signature away' from completing Dortmund transfer

Manchester United target Jude Bellingham is reportedly just a signature away from completing a transfer to Borussia Dortmund.

The 16-year-old has been heavily courted by both clubs desperate to land his services, with United even showing the youngster round the club’s training facilities.

But it seems the Red Devils could lose out on the Birmingham City starlet, who is said to have made his mind up on a move to Germany.

Bild report that Bellingham is ready to snub United and put pen to paper on a switch to the Bundesliga giants.

They add that Bellingham could well have already completed the agreement were it not for the coronavirus outbreak.

Bellingham is thought to favour a move to Dortmund where he knows he will play regularly, rather than head to United where first-team minutes are not guaranteed.

While Dortmund are confident of making Bellingham their player, the economic situation brought on by the coronavirus-enforced break could cause problems in the deal.

Talks were at an advanced stage between the club and player, but Dortmund will not enter into any further discussions until they know when and whether the current season will resume.

As it stands their transfer activity could largely depend on how the rest of the campaign will be finalised.

This could affect the transfer fee Dortmund pay to Dortmund, though it is unlikely to scupper any potential deal.

United will be hoping to muscle in on Dortmund’s position, while Chelsea have also expressed an interest.

The Blues have held discussions with Bellingham over the phone but are yet to meet the player in person due to the current lockdown.

United do look in line to land Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho however.

The England winger is expected to return to the UK this summer, but Dortmund chief Hans-Joachim Watzke is adamant the club will not be forced to sell for less than their £100m valuation.
