Man Utd stars shocked by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer decision ahead of Man City defeat

United lost 2-0 at Old Trafford in the Manchester derby on Wednesday evening.

Goals from Bernardo Silva and Leroy Sane sent Manchester City back to the top of the Premier League with three games remaining.

United were desperate to beat their arch-rivals to stop them from winning the title – as well as keeping their top four hopes alive.

Ahead of the derby, Solskjaer made his side train at United’s old training ground on the morning of the clash.

The United boss took his stars to the Cliff training ground on Wednesday morning.

The Red Devils used to train at the Cliff during Sir Alex Ferguson’s time at United.

Solskjaer thought it could inspire his players ahead of the Manchester derby.

However, according to The Metro, United’s stars were left baffled by Solskjaer’s decision.

Numerous United players didn’t understand the thought process behind the decision to change their location for training.

United came into the Manchester derby on the back of their 4-0 hammering at Everton last weekend.

And while Solskjaer admitted he got a reaction out of his players against City, the United boss claimed his side must show a better attitude.

“We certainly got a reaction,” said Solskjaer.

“The first half was positive and we were pleased at the break.

“Unfortunately, we conceded two sloppy goals in the second half that could have been avoided.

“We have to work harder.

“The first day of pre-season is going to be a big one and we will see who has looked after themselves in the summer.

“We know we must deliver a good performance against Chelsea.”

United are back in action on Sunday afternoon against Chelsea in the Premier League.
