Man Utd star Diogo Dalot sends Aaron Wan-Bissaka warning amid transfer exit rumours

Manchester United sealed a deal for Wan-Bissaka on Sunday after weeks of negotiations with their Premier League rivals.

The 21-year-old defender became the club’s fifth most expensive signing after joining for a mammoth £50million.

Wan-Bissaka is expect to be installed as United’s first choice right-back ahead of Ashley Young after Antonio Valencia’s departure, but Dalot is not giving up on the position without a fight.

He wrote on Twitter: “Nothing but hard work, waiting for the new season to kick off!”

Dalot, 20, joined United in a £19m deal from Porto in 2018.

The Portugal youth international made 16 appearances for the club last season but didn’t do enough to show Ole Gunner Solskjaer that he could fill the right-back spot next season.

“Aaron is one of the best upcoming defenders in the Premier League,” Solskjaer said of his latest signing.

“He has the right work ethic, talent and mentality to play for Manchester United and he fits exactly the type of player that we are looking to bring into the squad to help us improve and push on further.

“Aaron is a young, hungry player and eager to learn and that’s important at his age.

“I am delighted he has signed with us and we look forward to continuing his tremendous development so far.”

That move pushes Dalot even further down the pecking order at Old Trafford, with Wan-Bissaka determined to make the position his own to justify his heft price-tag.

He said: “It’s an unbelievable feeling and an honour to call myself a Manchester United player.

“It’s something I know that only a small number of players have the privilege to say.

“I can’t wait to get going and integrated into the squad.

“I will have a short break now after the European Championships but I’m looking forward to starting training with the manager and my new team-mates on the pre-season tour.”

The United squad are set to travel around the world on a busy preseason tour, starting with a trip to play Perth Glory in Australia on July 13.
