Daniel James says he is ‘loving’Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s attitude to his game both on and off the pitch.

Solskjaer is under pressure as Manchester United manager just 10 months after taking over from Jose Mourinho as interim boss.

He was confirmed as the permanent replacement in March, powered by a resurgence of squad morale as well as results in the Premier League and Champions League.

But now the Norwegian boss must prepare his team for the visit of Liverpool tomorrow in the knowledge that a defeat will see some questions asked about his future at the club.

There have also been rumours of growing uncertainty in the dressing room over Solskjaer’s suitability for the role but James appears delighted with what he has been learning from the manager.

‘I’m loving it,’ James said.

‘Every training session, he’s trying to make me better.

‘On the pitch he’s always telling me to go at players.

‘He’s never negative, he’s always positive with everything.

‘I think I wasn’t coming here to just be a squad player, but for the gaffer to believe in me and play me from the start – obviously in the Chelsea game I come on first game, but I’ve played every one since then, and that’s something that I want to continue to do.’

James has been one of the success stories at United so far this season with three goals in eight Premier League appearances since signing from Swansea over the summer.

The young winger was part of a concerted effort over the summer to sign British prospects who could be long-term first-team players for United, something Solskjaer is thought to be keen to press on with in January.

But that will rely on him staying in the post and sources have told Metro.co.uk that Solskjaer would jump before he was pushed if he felt that his position was in question at board level.

He is understood to have ‘too much respect’ for the club he used to play for and would rather resign than force the board into a position where they felt they had to sack him.
